Possible meets.... Lori McGaffney of EvaLucia
She’s a mother and a fashion lover. For over a decade she has grown and honed a loyal following amongst discerning women across the area. She’s a champion of the local independent business scene and, in our opinion, very much embodies what a successful and driven business leader should look like.
This week, Possible meets….. Lori McGaffney of Evalucia.
Can you tell us a bit about your business?
Evalucia opened its doors in 2009 - The store has evolved over the last eleven years into a carefully curated fashion and Lifestyle boutique with a hand selected brand mix with a point of difference from anything else you shall find on Perth High Street. Our collections are created with the discerning women in mind, looking for quality and stylish finds that will see them through the current season and for years to come. We put a massive emphasis on providing excellent customer service, making our customers feel welcome and at ease, as well as offering style advice while shopping with the added option of a one-to-one style consultation.
How was 2020 for you professionally and personally?
Very challenging! As a business we have an online presence which is fortunate, however the real focus is on the in-store experience. It's very difficult to replicate this personal service online (however we are working on it). A husband, teenager and toddler all at home made it very chaotic and our normal daily structure was whipped from beneath us (like lots of families).
Can you tell us about the first time you ever moved out of your family home and rented/bought your first property?
I was far too young emotionally and mentally. I had not long turned 16 and moved into a flat in Edinburgh while studying at college. I learned plenty though, mainly centred round Edinburgh nightlife!
Which parts of Perthshire have you lived in and are there any that you liked the most?
I’ve only lived in areas of Perth that are fairly central or on the outskirts - I love Loch Rannoch area, if I could have a second home in Perthshire it would be here.
What’s your favourite room in your home and why?
I love my Kitchen, it's a constant hub of activity and it seems to be where everyone in the family congregates. There’s plenty trip hazards by the way of my son’s toys but I would not have it any other way.
In your opinion, what is it that makes a house a home?
Having all of my extended family over for a Sunday dinner. I really miss this just now.
Why do you think Perthshire is such a popular location for buyers from all over parts of Scotland and the UK?
The accessibility to major Scottish Cities and it’s vast beauty being the gateway to the highlands.
If you could have your dream home, anywhere in the world, where would it be and tell us a bit about what it might have in it and look like?
It would have to be in Italy - it's a hard choice between the Tuscan Region and the Amalfi Coast. I married my husband in the most beautiful 17th Century Villa near Volterra called Villa Di Ulignano. The panoramic views of the Tuscan Hills are simply amazing. I fell in love with the place!
